SRT-10 Confirmed for the Tour 10.12.2009 Rally News
Gumballer Andrew Brimecome, who embarked on his first Gumball adventure in May 2009, has now booked and confirmed his place on the 2010 Tour from London to New York City. Once again Andrew will be embarking upon this epic adventure in his 2004 Dodge Viper SRT-10. However, Andrews’ Viper (pictured above) is no ordinary SRT-10 in fact ordinary and this car shouldn’t be allowed in the same sentence. Andrew has spent over £50,000 on upgrades and modifications in the last year and the list of changes would fill two pages which unfortunately I don’t have. As a taster the car is running an ACR twin turbo along with the standard 8.3L block which is consequently delivering 1,300 BHP to the rear wheels with the help from a couple of other little changes!.
When speaking to Andrew about the car I was anxious to find out what happens when you put 1,300 BHP through the rear wheels of an SRT-10. Andrews’s response was interesting, he said ‘the car is superb and I love what all of the little changes have created but it’s certainly not for the faint hearted. The car is insanely fast and in the right environment it is also extremely good fun! However, abuse it and it will bite you in the arse and run of with your wallet. Every time I start the engine I have to prevent the surge of excitement escaping my body through my right foot – If I did my car would spend its life in the body shop and I would spend my life in the nearest A&E’. |
