Gumball Fans BMX, So Does Vivid Racing at XGames 16 Posted by Dan Mermelstein / July 30,2010
Vivid Racing sponsored BMX rider Coco Zurita is down in Los Angeles getting ready to take command at XGames 16. But before he goes for gold this weekend, he has just equipped up his Mitsubishi EVO X. Newly added to the car is a set of 19x10.5 Volk Racing CE28N Genesis Wheels that have been wrapped in Continental DW Contact Tires. I believe a 265/30/19 is the size on all 4 corners. In addition, we also hooked up Coco with some new Agency Power Rear Adjustable Control Arms, Rear Sway Bar, Downpipe, Fuel Rail, and a Short Shifter. Stayed tuned for more pics as we pulled these from his Twitter Account, @cocobmx. Also check out Coco's new Vert Helmet repping the Vivid Racing logo. Can't wait to see it on TV! Make it happen!
1 Day Rally in California Concluded with 5 CHP Officers! Posted by Dan Mermelstein / July 23,2010
As a new sponsor of Luxury4Play.com automotive forum, we thought we would head out to California and take part in their exotic car rally cruise from DC Motors in Anaheim Hills to Coronado Island in San Diego. The 1 day rally would be filled with Lamborghini’s, Porsche’s, Ferrari’s, and even further exotic cars such as the Jaguar XJ220, Noble M12, Ford GT, and more. We took our Project 997TT out to the event equipped with all the goodies in addition to our Valentine1 radar detector, CB radio, and Blinder laser jammers. Our trip out to California had 2 quick stops. The first was at Falken Tire in Fontana where we shot a the car for an upcoming advertisement in Road and Track as well as Car and Driver magazine. After the shoot, we headed South to Huntington Beach where we met with the guys at BBI Autosport. If you have a Porsche in Southern California, this is where you need to go to get your car dialed. Awesome boutique style shop, amazing guys, and they know their stuff. BBI reworked the alignment on our Porsche which then never felt better!
After BBI we headed to our hotel near John Wayne Airport where some of the participants were staying. We parked front row next to Bucky Lasek’s white 996 Turbo and Fred’s (forum guy) incredible 997.2 GT3RS. After some great convo’s and sushi dinner at Ten, we hit the hay. The next morning we met up at DC Motors where we were entertained with a good breakfast and some sick cars. I caught up with some customers and they checked out our 997 Turbo which was cool. Grassroots is where it is at again. After an hour or so, everyone mounted up the cars and headed out. There were mini packs of cars that split up as we went down the Freeway. We stayed in the safe zone of traffic cruising around 80mph. Around Mission Viejo, we came upon the white E90 M3 being tailed by a CHP officer. With cruise control set at 70mph (speed limit 65mph), I creeped by, waived to the officers, then laughed at the BMW. 10 seconds later, they were behind me. We passed an on ramp where 2 more CHP came on. 20 secs later they pulled over myself, a Lotus, and the BMW. WTF!
With 5 CHP behind us in a parking lot, I was busted for DWB (Driving While Blue). Giving the utmost in courtesy (Thanks to 20yrs of watching COPS), I was told to drive safe and be careful. Thank you young CHP guy as I truly did nothing! The E90 M3 was let go at the sametime as us so we cruised the rest of the way to Coronado. AZ 115F, SD 73F, got to love it. As we rolled into the parking lot at the resteraunt, people were coming up to me asking if I was arrested. Man I miss those Gumball type rumors! Glad to see old faces, new faces, awesome cars, and thanks L4P for a GREAT event!
